Lando Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at each of the previous five race weekends.
Lando Norris edged out fellow driver and title rival Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Melbourne-born driver by 0.023 seconds.
Before then, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair throughout the hour before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in realistic title contention, trailing 36 points behind Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a unique setup.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to go off, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before rotating through the escape zone, and was lucky to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho corner approaching the final bend on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in P19, one place behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's car P3, over half a second off Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
