AC Shadows Reveals Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a bizarre collaboration that challenges usual forecasts, Ubisoft has unveiled an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering no-cost additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal statement, "An unusual encounter pulls heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new mission, where whispers of forbidden practices and terrifying changes echo through the darkness." The narrative presents a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who charges the pair with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden group.
The adventure centers on "peculiar experiments and a terrifying enemy" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Iconic Settings and Metamorphoses
The trailer showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a dramatic scene showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Rewards and Bonus Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to multiple items concealed throughout the area in secret chests. The update also includes in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Unique weapons
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Update
This release also introduces the game's newest complimentary story content, titled "The Enigma." This lighthearted mission teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks not the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably referenced the well-known series One-Punch Man.
